Lung cancer is the most common cause of cancer death in the United States. Esophageal cancer is the sixth leading cause of death. Even for potentially curable patients with these diseases, treatment is complex and requires close integration of specialty care. A number of new approaches and therapeutics have become available for the treatment of lung and esophageal cancer. Physicians treating patients with lung and esophageal cancer need to be aware of recent developments and how they can be utilized to optimize care.
This year's program will again focus on multimodality treatment of thoracic cancers. It is intended for physicians and allied health care personnel including internists, pulmonologists, general surgeons, thoracic surgeons, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, nurses and pharmacists, who encounter patients with thoracic malignancies.
At the conclusion of the course, participants will be able to:
