The goal of the Biostatistics Facility is to provide basic, translational, clinical and epidemiological investigators of the University of Maryland Greenebaum Cancer Center (UMGCC) access to quality statistical science.
Biostatisticians provide consultation and collaboration regarding research design and statistical analysis, including the assessment of study feasibility, estimation of sample sizes to meet study objectives, and grant and manuscript preparation. The biostatistics faculty also conducts methodological research arisen from collaborations in all stages of cancer investigation. In addition, independent and research in Biostatistics benefits the investigators at the University of Maryland Greenebaum Cancer Center synergistically.
The Division of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics was re-organized with the merger of the original Division of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics of the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health and the Biostatistics Division of the University of Maryland Greenebaum Cancer Center in 2009. Its mission is to excel in biostatistics education/training, and methodological and collaborative biomedical research throughout the medical center and the university.
