The University of Maryland Marlene and Stewart Greenebaum Cancer Center (UMGCC), Animal Shared Service is a component of Veterinary Resources (VR), which in turn, is part of the service arm of Comparative Medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine (UMSOM). The Shared Service mission is to provide comprehensive laboratory animal services, care and facilities to UMGCC. The UMGCC Animal Shared Service represents over one-third of VR’s total animal operations. Our goal is to provide high quality, extensive services including animal procurement, husbandry care and medical oversight, microbiological monitoring, pathology services, maintenance of genetically altered and immunodeficient rodent colonies, consultation and collaboration on animal model selection and development, and management of in vivo cancer center research projects.
