Radiation Oncology Residency Program

University of Maryland Medical Center Radiation Oncology Training Program

Graduate Program

The Radiation Oncology Residency Program is a four-year training program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). We expect and require the highest levels of personal commitment, integrity, professionalism, compassion, and patient care in our department from every member of the staff, including trainees. We are proud of our long tradition of excellence, and are pleased you have expressed interest in our program. At present, we are accredited for 8 resident positions.

Teaching within our training program is carried out through didactic lectures, clinics, and numerous teaching conferences, with emphasis on patient care, under the supervision of full-time staff. Elective time is spent in related oncological specialties to promote the multidisciplinary concept of managing cancer patients. The department enjoys state-of-the-art equipment and operates several sites both on and off-campus, which include: the University Physicians Professional Building, a main facility in the Gudelsky Tower of the University of Maryland Medical Center, Central Maryland Oncology Center in Columbia, MD, and the Helen P. Denit Center for Radiation Therapy in Olney, Maryland.

All applicants must be graduates of an approved medical school and have satisfactorily completed one year of approved post-graduate training (PGY-1), prior to entering clinical training in radiation oncology. Interviews

After our selection committee has reviewed your application, you will receive an email informing you the status of your application. All interviews are held on Friday and are by invitation only and last for half of the day. We have found that this format allows for a more organized interview for both you and our faculty and minimizes interruptions.
