The Radiation Oncology Residency Program is a four-year training program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). We expect and require the highest levels of personal commitment, integrity, professionalism, compassion, and patient care in our department from every member of the staff, including trainees. We are proud of our long tradition of excellence, and are pleased you have expressed interest in our program. At present, we are accredited for 8 resident positions.
Teaching within our training program is carried out through didactic lectures, clinics, and numerous teaching conferences, with emphasis on patient care, under the supervision of full-time staff. Elective time is spent in related oncological specialties to promote the multidisciplinary concept of managing cancer patients. The department enjoys state-of-the-art equipment and operates several sites both on and off-campus, which include: the University Physicians Professional Building, a main facility in the Gudelsky Tower of the University of Maryland Medical Center, Central Maryland Oncology Center in Columbia, MD, and the Helen P. Denit Center for Radiation Therapy in Olney, Maryland.
All applicants must be graduates of an approved medical school and have satisfactorily completed one year of approved post-graduate training (PGY-1), prior to entering clinical training in radiation oncology. We accept all applications through ERAS. All positions are only offered through the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP).
