Conveniently located in Olney, Maryland, the Helen P. Denit Center for Radiation Therapy at Montgomery General Hospital provides comprehensive radiation planning and treatment services for all types and stages of cancer. The Center is affiliated with the University of Maryland Greenebaum Cancer Center (UMGCC), an NCI-designated cancer center, which means that our patients have all of the advantages of receiving care at a large, university medical center, while staying right here in our community.

Our Services

The Denit Center for Radiation Therapy offers both traditional radiation oncology services, and new cutting-edge therapies, including:

Traditional radiation therapy
Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT)
Image-Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT)

Telemedicine Technology

Our physicians work closely with cancer experts at UMGCC's downtown Baltimore campus using the latest teleconferencing technology. Our physicians are able to review films and treatment techniques, discuss the latest literature, and confer on patient cases in real time with their colleagues downtown. In this way, we offer patients the best, most comprehensive cancer care possible.

Clinical Trials

Clinical trials are research studies designed to find new and better ways to treat patients with cancer. Through our affiliation with the University of Maryland Greenebaum Cancer Center, we are able to offer our patients access to National Cancer Institute and other cutting-edge clinical trials, providing new treatments not yet commercially available elsewhere.

Medical Director

Dr. Luther L. Ampey, III

Luther L. Ampey, III, M.D., is medical director of the Helen P. Denit Center for Radiation Therapy and assistant professor of Radiation Oncology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He serves as Liaison Physician to the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer for Montgomery General Hospital. Dr. Ampey was named one of Washingtonian magazine's Top Doctors for 2008.
