The Center for Image Renewal


Offering Services to Help Patients Look and Feel Their Best During Treatment

The Center for Image Renewal at the University of Maryland Medical Center -- located on the first floor in the Weinberg Atrium -- is designed to promote personal well-being and a positive self-image for those dealing with the physical effects of cancer treatment and other conditions.

Recognizing that personal appearance has a major impact on how we feel about ourselves, the Center strives to provide an atmosphere of supportive personal care to restore and enhance appearance through individualized consultations, custom services for skin, hair and body, and related personal accessories.

 

Products and Services

The Center's focus is on making each individual feel self-confident and positive about her appearance. The spa-like setting is designed to provide a stress-relieving oasis where you will be pampered by professionals who understand your needs. Products and services include:

Consultations

Consultations for hair replacement products and mastectomy products and services are free. Our trained staff consults on all aspects of body image, including:

All services are also available on in-room basis, upon approval by patient's medical team. There is a fee for in-room services; please call the Center for more information.

Our skin care services include a complimentary analysis and customized recommendations based on individual skin type. Services include:


Look Good, Feel Better Program

The Center for Image Renewal helps you maintain a positive self-image and cope with the physical effects of treatment.

The Center for Image Renewal sponsors monthly workshops as part of the American Cancer Society's Look Good, Feel Better program. At these free workshops, volunteer cosmetologists teach beauty techniques to help restore appearance and self-image during chemotherapy and radiation treatments. Each group program participant receives a free kit of cosmetics for use during and after the workshop.

About Our Staff

The Center is staffed full time by professional, licensed aestheticians and cosmetologists with special training in meeting the needs of those undergoing cancer treatment. Boutique manager Paulette Williams is available to speak to outside support groups on behalf of The Center for Image Renewal.


Hours of Operation

The Center for Image Renewal is open Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. To make an appointment for a personal consultation or for more information, please call 410-328-9154.
