Abiraterone acetate (ah-bih-RAH-teh-rone A-suh-TAYT)
A substance being studied in the treatment of prostate cancer and breast cancer. It blocks tissues from making androgens (male hormones), such as testosterone. This may cause the death of cancer cells that need androgens to grow. It is a type of anti-androgen.
