Race for the Cure

Join Our Team on October 19

The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure will take place on Sunday, October 19, 2008, in Hunt Valley, Maryland. The Race honors survivors of breast cancer.

Join the University of Maryland Marlene and Stewart Greenebaum Cancer Center's (UMGCC) team and raise money for breast cancer research. Choose to participate in the 1-mile Family Fun Walk or the 5K (3.1 mile) Walk/Run. You can also participate by collecting donations for our team. Each team member will receive a Race for the Cure T-shirt.

The day's activities start with a Survivor Parade of Pink at 7:00 a.m., followed by the 5K Run at 8:00 a.m., and the 5K walk or 1-mile Family Fun Walk beginning at 8:45 a.m. There will be thousands of people at this event, so plan on getting there early. It's a great day filled with emotion, support and love.

UMGCC Team Activities

UMGCC will have a booth in the Sponsors Tent staffed from 5:00 a.m. to 12 noon. A UMGCC team photo will be taken at the race at 7:00 a.m. in front of our booth.

To receive your UMGCC team shirt to wear proudly on the day of the race, you must register for our team by October 1, 2008. Team shirts will be available for pick up from October 14-16, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. in the Patient Resource Center. (Note: Our team shirts are only for those who have officially registered for our team.).

Registration Deadline:

To register on line go to Komen Maryland, click on Register Here, agree to the terms, select "Join a Team," then use the drop-down menu to select the University of Maryland Marlene and Stewart Greenebaum Cancer Center. You must register by October 1, 2008, to have your shirt mailed to you.

Survivors receive a pink race number, pink cap and pink T-shirt. The Survivors' Tent opens at 6:00 am on race day.

Safety Reminder: For the safety of all participants, inline skates and pets are prohibited from participating in this event. Strollers are permitted for the 1-Mile Family Fun Walk only.
