Claudia R. Baquet, M.D., M.P.H., Associate Dean for Policy and Planning, Professor of Medicine and Director, National Bioethics and Health Disparities Research Center at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, has been selected as the recipient of the 2012 American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) Distinguished Lectureship on the Science of Health Disparities. The award, funded by Susan G. Komen for the Cure®, recognizes an investigator whose novel and significant work has had a far-reaching impact on the etiology, detection, diagnosis, treatment or prevention of cancer health disparities.
Dr. Baquet will deliver an award lecture titled, Advancing the Science of Cancer Health Disparities: The Case for Public Trust, Bioethics, Research Literacy and Biospecimen Science, at the Fifth Annual AACR Conference on the Science of Cancer Health Disparities in Racial/Ethnic Minorities and the Medically Underserved, in San Diego, CA. The award presentation and lecture will be held on Saturday, October 27, 2012, during the Opening Plenary Session.
