September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month. The American Cancer Society and the American Urological Association recommend that men over the age of 50 should have a PSA blood test and digital rectal exam (DRE) annually. African American men or men with a family history of prostate cancer should begin their annual prostate evaluations when they are in their 40's.
