carcinoid tumor:
- Multiple endocrine neoplasia, type 1: This hereditary condition is
associated with a high risk of cancer in the pituitary gland, parathyroid
gland, and pancreas. It carries with it an increased chance of developing
carcinoid tumors.
- Stomach conditions: People with some diseases of the stomach have
an increased risk of developing a carcinoid tumor of the stomach.
- Race/gender: African Americans get carcinoid tumors more frequently
than whites, and African American men get the disease more frequently than
African American women do.
