The Bone and Soft Tissue Oncology Program consists of a group of specialists experienced in the treatment of:

Working with referring physicians to provide patients with the best possible care, we treat all types of musculoskeletal and soft tissue malignancies. We specialize in limb sparing surgery, treatment of metastatic disease, and second opinions.

Surgery is the mainstay of treatment for all soft tissue sarcomas, and the University of Maryland Marlene and Stewart Greenebaum Cancer Center provides surgical expertise in the treatment of extremity, abdominal and retroperitoneal sarcomas. Surgical oncologists also work with our Department of Diagnostic Radiology to make diagnoses and forumulate treatment plans. This strategy is extremely vaulable, especially for limb salvaging treatments.

We also participate in clinical trials in conjuntion with Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG), a nationwide clincial trials group, and the American College of Surgeons Oncology Group.

Patients in the program are evaluated in the multidisciplinary clinic by a team of: surgical oncologists, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, radiologists, orthopedic surgeons, nurses, and rehabilitation specialists.
